Our Lord Jesus promised, “For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them.” (Matthew 18:20)
For God’s people, worship has most always meant gathering together as a group in God’s name. We celebrate God’s presence among us by reading and preaching on God’s word, the singing of Psalms, hymns and spiritual songs, and praying to God. We worship using some liturgy for our more traditional 11:00AM service on Sunday mornings. We do not use a liturgy for the 9:00AM Contemporary worship service, which is led by our GLC Praise Band, and contains all the essential elements of Lutheran worship, such as Confession and Absolution, Prayers and the Lord’s Prayer, reading of the Gospel, Pastor’s message, the Apostles’ Creed, and Benediction.
Holy Communion
In the 9:00AM worship service, Holy Communion is offered on the first Sunday each month. In the 11:00AM service, Holy Communion is offered on the third Sunday each month.
All are invited to receive the Lord’s Supper. At Grace Lutheran Church, we believe that Holy Communion is food for the soul. It is Jesus’ meal and He comes to us in the bread and wine. In Baptism, we are first born anew, but we all sin and fall short of what God requires. Jesus calls forward to His table all those who confess their sins and repent of them, desire forgiveness, believe Jesus died for their sins and hunger, and thirst for a new and transformed life. Grape juice is offered as well as wine. Children are encouraged to come up to the altar rail for a blessing by the Pastor.
Music
‘Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation!’ Psalm 95:1
We are a congregation that loves to sing to the Lord, and hear music that praises and glorifies our Savior. We have Grace Choir musical offerings and a Grace Praise Band, and a group called, Full of Grace, who provide music during each month. Musicians, including children and youth, are encouraged to play an Christian/classical piano, violin, or other instrumental piece. Please contact the office to confirm your date at 250.769.5685.
Services of Healing
This gentle, soothing Communion service lives up to its name – the liturgy helps you to deeply reconnect with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in a personal and private way. Open to anyone who wants to come, this inspiring and uplifting liturgy is ideal for all who suffer, be it personal loss, physical illness, or simply through trying to cope with daily strife.
During our healing services, those who are experiencing physical, emotional and spiritual suffering receive prayer, comfort, consolation, an anointing with oil and laying on of hands by elders. This all occurs within the service of worship, which includes preaching and Holy Communion.
May the love of Jesus bring you peace.
