Vacation Bible School

VBS 2010: Come join us this summer for Vacation BIble School as we learn about  Brave Queen Esther. Travel back to Esther's castle, help us to uncover

WHY VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL? Jesus has a special place in His heart for children. These words from the Gospel of Mark express Jesus' feelings for children in the most powerful way.

People were bringing little children to Jesus to have him touch them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it." And he took the children in his arms, put his hands on them and blessed them. (Mark 10:13-16)

It is for this reason that our congregation has been led by Jesus to open the doors of our church annually to the children of our community through our Vacation Bible School both here at Grace Lutheran Church and, for many years, in the Queen Charlotte Islands of British Columbia.

Last year, on Sunday June 28th 2009, at a specially-called congregational meeting, our church family affirmed GLC Council's recommendation to call Karen Seifert , BA, M-Div., to serve as Assistant Pastor at Grace Lutheran Church. Pastor Karen's primary focus will be on shepherding the children and youth of our congregation from Sunday school through to college and careers, as well as assisting our Pastor Ed in the overall life of our congregation. Pastor Karen will be providing leadership and oversight for our Vacation Bible School programs and has some exciting plans in mind - we look forward to helping bring them to fruition! Stay tuned!

Our 2009 VBS, Paul, Rome, and the Underground Church, ran June 28, 29 and July 2 and 3. We were blessed with many dedicated volunteers, and are indebted to them for a fabulous VBS this year. It has been an extremely busy year for Grace Lutheran Church, and these volunteers came forward and took ownership of our VBS program, proof again of the value the congregation of Grace Lutheran church places on our community's children!
