Discipleship

The Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John describe a process by which Jesus chose twelve men whom He called to leave their homes and families and follow Him on a journey which lasted for more than three years. It was during this time that Jesus revealed to his followers, or disciples, His true nature and opened the path to eternal life in the Kingdom of Heaven to all who believe in Him. On that journey, Jesus revealed that He was the ultimate fulfillment of God's promise to send a special king into the world who would be truly human and truly divine, a shepherd to His people and their Savior.

Jesus revealed His identity as the Great Shepherd of God's flock and His divinity through His teaching, preaching and the miracles He performed. Jesus was revealed as our Savior through His innocent suffering and death on the cross for our sins and His glorious resurrection. Following His resurrection, Jesus chose a man called Paul and made him a disciple. Jesus sent Paul out to establish congregations throughout the world.

Jesus instructed and empowered His first disciples and Paul to make disciples of all people by teaching them what they learned from Jesus. For more than two thousand years, Jesus has empowered and used each generation of Christians to teach and disciple succeeding generations. For this reason, our congregation provides opportunities for the study of the Old and New Testaments of the Holy Bible and the formation of faith for people of all ages. In the links that follow, describe opportunities for discipleship for children, youth and adults.
