Children's Church [And] Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." Matthew 19:14
Children’s Church begins in September. It is held during our regular time of worship, which begins at 11:00 AM. The children remain in the main sanctuary with us from 11:00 through the Pastor’s Children’s time (11:15). The children are then dismissed. The children are split into groups based on age and receive instruction. Children attend Children’s church from age 3 through grade 6. The children hear Bible stories, and participate in singing and crafts. Classes meet in our Daycare Area on the lower floor of the church and classroom areas located on our main floor. Our Children’s Church provides for our youngest members, our “lambs” (infants through 3 years). Lambs receive nursery care provided by the ladies of our congregation. The Lambs Nursery is located in the area where the other children are taught, for the purpose of familiarizing them with the Children’s Church and, God willing, nurturing their interest in Children’s Church. The students of Children’s Church will be involved in worship from time to time. Groups of children may offer special music during the service. The children are usually involved in a special activity during the Advent/Christmas season, and have a part in the Sonrise Easter service 8:30 AM, which has typically been held at Bear Creek Provincial Park. Kid’s Club: From time to time, the children will gather on Saturday mornings for movies, games and fun with Pastor Ed. Kid’s Club activities will be announced in advance, in our Sunday bulletins and our on-line calendar. Vacation Bible School: Each year our congregation invites the children from our church and our community to a Vacation Bible School. It typically takes place the first week in July. We have an average attendance of about 120 children each day. VBS takes place from 9:00 AM to about noon. It includes Bible lessons, skits, games, recess, crafts, music, and snacks. The children learn songs and skits for the closing program, which happens on the last day of the VBS. Each year we have a theme for the whole week. The sanctuary and other areas of the church are decorated to fit the theme. Watch for announcements on our VBS web page! |
