SOLACE
SOLACE is a four-voice female quartet specializing in acapella Christian music. Our first CD, 'Cast Your Cares', is now available. A true 'healing CD', Cast Your Cares features interspersed scripture readings and acapella songs related to healing - some traditional, some contemporary, some reflective, some upbeat. 'Cast Your Cares' is designed to take the listener on a musical journey from anxiety, distress or pain, to a place of peace and comfort in the knowledge that our loving Lord and Savior is beside us at all times and cares deeply for us. This CD is also a potential vehicle for healing for the devasted and strife-torn area of Darfur, in the Sudan. Thanks to a kind donor, 100% of the proceeds from the distribution of 'Cast Your Cares' is contributed to the Mennonite Central Committee - one of the few humanitarian organizations allowed to operate in the region by the Sudanese government. SOLACE'S Cast Your Cares CD is available for a $20 donation, made payable to Grace Lutheran Church - tax receipts on request.
WHY SOLACE? Our name to reflect our source of inspiration and joy – Jesus. Many excellent suggestions for names were offered; we really appreciate the thoughtfulness of the choices and it was difficult to make a choice. We settled on Solace, because its primary meaning, “that which cheers, comforts or consoles” describes God’s Holy Word for us, and its secondary meaning, ‘to solace one with the hope of future reward’ describes Jesus’ promise to all of us. ‘Sol’ is also Latin for ‘the sun’, (Son) and ‘lace’ is defined as ‘to intertwine: spin or twist together so as to form a cord’, which we feel God has accomplished through wrapping our voices together in unison and in harmony!
WHO IS SOLACE? Solace consists of four sisters-in-Christ: Deni Skutshek, Leah Green, Sandra Hartness, and Karen Emmond. All four are part of the church family of Grace Lutheran and have been singing together for just over two years! We perform regularly at Pine Acres Rest Home and the Village at Smith Creek - as well as at various public and private events. Our hope is that God uses our music to open your eyes and open your ears, so that you too can 'see' Jesus and say that you love Him.
