Theme: Pastor Seth Flick’s presentation at our 2017 CALC convention focused on the five “solas” or “onlys” of the Lutheran Reformation: sola scriptura, sola fide, sola gratia, sola Christus, and soli Deo Gloria. These five Latin phrases (or slogans) emerged during the Reformation to summarize the Reformers’ theological convictions about the essentials of Christianity. The solas declare that we are saved by “Christ” alone, by “grace” alone, through “faith,” which comes through the “word” alone and all glory for our salvation belongs to “God” alone. His explanation for each of the five solas was riveting. At each service we will be viewing a portion of his presentation and then digging deeper into the topic.
